This is my first book of prose and poetry.

It's taken what feels like an inordinate amount of time to bring this book into form reality.

A long and difficult birth.

I understand this to be a reflection of the depths to which these words

come from and touch into, and my attempt to impart to you, dear reader,

a few things I have learned that to me feel important, have value, may resonate.

This difficult birth also reflects the family I grew up in,

the messages learned from alcoholic and generational behaviors,

and all the ways my very quiet self kept herself safe,

and sought solace in silence.

It wasn't until my mother had passed, and I retired my business,

that I was able to begin this process of birthing my self in this

hold-in-your-hands, totally exposed in the real world, form.

I am a bit of a perfectionist in my art and design work, and,

I am happy with the result.

I hope you are able to recognize or receive these words in ways

that serve your acceptance of, and appreciation for,

the paradoxes and opportunities that define human nature.

My book is formatted into four sections, entitled:

The Inner Landscape

These are writings done throughout many years of exploring the dynamics involved in the how and why of me and you. Some were written during my 15 years of living in Minneapolis, where I made good use of many spiritual and healing resources.

Seasons of the Driftless

These poems are all seasonally inspired, and were written while residing in Viroqua since 1994 and immersing myself in the beautifully serene Driftless Region of southwest Wisconsin.

The North Shore

These poems speak to my deep love affair with the North Shore of Lake Superior, a landscape I have visited almost yearly since the mid-80's, and retreated to almost monthly during the time following my mother's death.

Letting Go of Home

There could be a whole book written in honor of the land I grew up on, and my mother's 93 years lived on that land. Needing to sell this land following her death was a profound experience, and, an opportunity to feel into new depths of myself.

Embodiment is a Lifelong Journey

We are beholden to the elements of our existence. They form our structure, our posture, our attitude and our abilities. And yet we rarely offer them recognition. The power of our hearts to effect change may best be served when we recognize that we are born of that moment
